2024 Dennys Legacy Series Wednesday Night Bassin’ Rules
1.Tournament Guidelines | Participants under 16? They’ll need accompanying guardians. A heads-up: Denny’s Legacy Series occasionally exercises its discretion on participation. This might, on rare occasions, involve a polygraph test. Decisions made by our tournament officials are final and binding. Have concerns? Kindly send a text to our director at (612) 961-1680 prior to weigh-in. |
2. Safety Protocols | Safety first! Always wear your USCG-approved life vest when the boat’s engine is running. On Lake Minnetonka, let’s adhere to the 40-mph speed limit, as well as the 5-mph speed limit in channels. Life vests should be worn whenever the engine is operational. A reminder: equip your boat with a kill switch, ensure your running lights are in order, and always have a fire extinguisher and first-aid kit on board. |
3. Bass Regulations | Only Large & Smallmouth Bass (season restrictions apply) are legal. The team limit stands at 4 bass. Bass that appear tampered with will not be eligible for weigh-in. In the event of a tie: we’ll first consider the number of bass, followed by the weight of the largest fish. If still tied, the prize pot will be shared. -Please tag your big bass so Denny can weigh it efficiently. |
4. Courtesy & Timing | For a harmonious experience, maintain a minimum distance of 100 yards between boats. This includes when fishing ‘behind’ another team. Please remain aware of this. This distance rule is modified to 100 feet when: 1. Fishing a spawning Bass 2. Fishing anywhere in the Lord Fletchers marina area 3. When passing a team with your trolling motor (no fishing while passing) • Unsportsmanlike conduct could result in penalties or disqualification. • Unfortunately, teams late for weigh-in will not be eligible for scoring. |
5. Cancellation policy | If you need to miss a tournament, please notify the tournament director at least 1 week in advance. This allows time to fill your spot. If we successfully fill your spot, your $50 entry fee for that tournament will be refunded. The $400 entry fee will cover all 8 tournaments, as well as the big bass pot and TOY entry. |
6. Off-Limits | Off limits fishing begins at 3 PM the day of the tournament and runs until tournament start time. |
7. Equipment Standards | Artificial lures only. Trolling, and live bait are not permitted. Keep your rods under 8 1/2 feet for fair play. Interested in sight fishing? Great! Just ensure the fish is hooked inside the mouth. If puncture holes are observed on a fish far from the mouth, there will be an investigation which could result in disqualification. |
8. Substitutions | Subs must be approved by the tournament director. Send an email to [email protected] at least 12 hours before tournament start time to confirm your sub so they can be approved and entered on our scoreboard. Subs will be allowed, as long as your team’s original boater OR partner is fishing in each tournament. A completely new team (different boater and partner) will not be allowed to fish in another teams place. |
9. Communication Policies | Please reserve cell phones primarily for emergencies. Communication between competitors requires prior approval from our director. |
10. Check-In | There will be no checking in with Denny this year before the tournament. You must email/text tournament director Mike Hengel if you have any conflicts. Otherwise, we will assume everyone is there and count up the teams at blast off. If you are not there at blast off when your number is called you will be unable to weigh in unless arrangements have been made with the tournament director prior. |
11. Fish Release | -You may release your fish off the docks at the weigh in site. If a fish is struggling, please attempt to take it out to deeper water. If you catch a Smallmouth bass and would rather not release it in Maxwell bay (Smallmouth don’t live in Maxwell), give tournament director Mike Hengel a heads up and he will take and release it for you in a better location after the weigh in. -Dead fish penalty is 0.25lbs. A dead bass will not be eligible for our big bass prize. |
12. Additional Rules | -A reminder to avoid alcoholic beverages while participating. Not adhering to our guidelines may lead to disqualification. -Unsportsmanlike conduct could result in penalties or disqualification. If you feel another boat crosses the line, take a picture and the tournament director will use discretion to deal with the situation. |
